Marco Coppola, D.O., FACEP
Education: Des Moines University – College of Osteopathic Medicine – Des Moines, Iowa
Emergency Medicine Residency: Darnall Army Medical Center – Fort Hood, Texas
Dr. Coppola brings leadership and strong medical expertise to Family Urgent Care PLUS. He has over 30 years of military and emergency medicine experience. He is certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine and is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP).
He is presently Adjunct Clinical Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of North Texas Health Science Center. Dr. Coppola is a Past Council Speaker of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) and is also a Past Two-Term President of the Government Services Chapter, ACEP. He has held many leadership positions including Academic Chair and Department Chair at multiple academic and community hospitals. He was a founding partner of Questcare Partners in Dallas, Texas, and has been a program director of three emergency medicine residencies throughout Texas. Dr Coppola is an international speaker, the recipient of numerous teaching awards, and is the author of many textbook chapters and peer-reviewed articles.
Colonel Coppola is presently the Chief of Emergency Medical Services for the Texas Medical Brigade of the Texas State Guard. He has served in Operation Iraqi Freedom and was Deputy Commander of the Theater Internment Facility Hospital at Camp Bucca. He was the longest running Commander (47 months) of the Texas Medical Command, Texas Army National Guard. Colonel Coppola is one of only a handful of Army Emergency Physicians holding the Surgeon General‘s “A” Proficiency Designator, and is a member of the Order of Military Medical Merit. His decorations include the Legion of Merit, the Meritorious Service Medal, six Army Commendation Medals, the Air Force Commendation Medal, and the Texas Lonestar Distinguished Service Medal.
Dr. Coppola also donates his time to Operation Lone Star.
